One dashboard for every NSE option chain

This page is the entry point to every option chain NSE trades: the index contracts — Nifty, Bank Nifty, FinNifty — and 180+ F&O stocks. The dashboard above shows each index's spot, PCR and max pain side by side, plus the most active option contracts in the market right now; open any row for that contract's full strike-wise chain.

Which chain should you be looking at?

Index chains and stock chains answer different questions. Index chains (Nifty, Bank Nifty) are deep, writer-dominated and cash-settled — the best read on overall market direction and the standard playground for intraday option strategies. Stock chains are thinner, event-driven (results, sector news, ban-list entries) and physically settled, which changes behaviour near expiry: positions unwind earlier and OTM liquidity dries up faster. If you're new to chain reading, start with Nifty — the concepts in our option chain guide apply everywhere, but Nifty's depth makes the signals cleanest.

What the "most active" table tells you

The hottest-options table above surfaces where today's volume and fresh OI are concentrating across the whole F&O universe. Three patterns worth acting on: an index strike dominating activity flags the day's battleground level; a single stock's options suddenly leading volume usually precedes or follows news — check the results calendar; and heavy activity in far-dated series signals positioning for an event rather than an intraday view.

Reading any chain in 30 seconds

The routine is identical on every contract: find the highest Call-OI strike (working resistance) and highest Put-OI strike (working support); check the PCR for the sentiment lean; note max pain if expiry is near; then confirm any level against today's change in OI before trusting it. The full method, with worked examples and the classic beginner mistakes, is in the complete guide.

FAQs

Is this NSE option chain free and live?

Yes. Chains for all indices and F&O stocks are free without login, refreshed every minute through market hours (9:15 AM–3:30 PM IST) with the timestamp shown above. Historical chain replay and strike alerts are Prime features.

What's the difference between the NSE and BSE option chain?

Different exchanges, different underlyings: NSE lists Nifty, Bank Nifty, FinNifty and stock options; BSE's flagship is the Sensex chain. Expiry days also differ by exchange under SEBI's current framework.

How many stocks have option chains?

Options trade on the exchange-defined F&O list — around 180–230 stocks, revised periodically by NSE. If a stock isn't searchable here, it isn't in the current F&O list.

Which option chain is best for beginners?

Nifty. It's the deepest and most liquid options market in the world by contracts, so OI signals are cleanest and spreads tightest. Learn the method on Nifty before applying it to stocks.

Why do stock option chains behave differently near expiry?

Stock options are physically settled — in-the-money positions held to expiry result in share delivery. Traders square off earlier to avoid it, so stock OI unwinds faster into expiry than cash-settled index OI.
